About Me

Designer and Student based in New Jersey

well hi there <3

If you don’t know me, my name is Avis Ellerosa. Currently, i’m a student at Brookdale Community College and I’m in my second year there. I love bright colors, funky patterns and interesting silhouettes. I’ve been focusing on my future in fashion for the past four years now. Ever since i figured out that that was the path i wanted to take, I threw myself towards my goal. Speaking of which, my end goal career is as a costume designer! I love the stage and the screen and the intricacies for costuming both. There's a lot of things to learn for this job and I can't wait for you all to see.

Some special skills i’ve gained from school!

Extended Sewing Knowledge

Thanks to my amazing teachers both in college and in highschool I have gained so much valuable sewing knowledge. I have been sewing for 4 years and have been making garments for 3 of them. I’ve gone from simple tent dresses to corsets in that time and I couldn’t be more grateful for all the people who helped me advance my sewing techniques

Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro

In high school I took Graphic Design 1, 2, and 3 which is how I learned Adobe Photoshop and when I got to college I took an illustration course which is where I learned how to use Adobe Illustrator! I loved using Illustrator to design my digital collection, making textile flats and a tech pack, and using photoshop to enhance the design and make mood boards. In terms of fashion design I have been using the softwares for over a year now. Along with doing graphic design in highschool I was also part of my schools Digital Media Academy where I learned how to use Adobe Premiere Pro.

Hand Illustration

( 03 )

In the same illustration course that I mentioned above I also learned to do hand illustrations! This included creating croquis using the 9-heads method and designing realistic garments ontop of them. This has been the methods ive used for the majority of my designs and its just something I love to do in my free time

About The Brand

Ever since I could remember i’ve had this love for tv and film, but more specifically a love for what the characters were wearing. Every costume tells the story of the character who’s wearing it and I think thats one of the most important parts of the film. And this does similarly for theatre. Every piece has so much detail that I could only dream to put that into my own work.

Well, to make that dream into a reality I started to sew my own pieces. It’s started off small with tent dress and ties bags but has slowly grown into jeans and lace up corsets. I couldn’t be prouder of how far my work has come and I would love to share it.

But it’s not just that i’m interested in sewing for fun. Something that I noticed when I got further into my research about costuming was a lot of older actresses had horror stories about the costumes of their past. Many of them were forced into wearing too tight, too short, or too low costumes to fit an unfair and rigid view of what the director wanted. My goal for when I go into the costuming industry is to create a comfortable environment where actresses and actors alike can feel confident and beautiful in what they wear.

In the meantime, for the garments that I do have, I’m interested in renting them out for other creative projects. I’m also open to doing commissions of custom work with my patterns because I would love for an excuse to work with them again!
